Please join us for a gathering of the most prestigious,
illustrious, fun, outrageously smart and ageless people ever to come out of
high school in Orange County, the very first graduating classes of Mater Dei
High School ----------------------1953-1959...YOU…US!
We set the tone for scholastic, athletic and leadership
achievement that became the foundation for Mater Dei’s high regard and esteem
in the large community of high schools nation wide. When our name is mentioned in Nebraska, they know
us. If you say to someone in Iowa that
you graduated Mater Dei in Santa Ana, California, they’ll most likely say, “Oh
yeah, I’ve heard of Mater Dei. Didn’t
you guys……?” And on it goes. We are truly the very first of the very best
graduating classes from one of the very best schools anywhere…………………. MATER DEI HIGH SCHOOL!
This will be the first event of its kind and we hope that it
will become the forerunner for events from later decades. Our goal is to have fun in the casual spirit
of a get-together with friends, reunite with folks you haven’t seen, maybe
since graduation and remember what it was like back in the fifties. The school has been very gracious, not only
in helping us plan our “…gathering…” but also in allowing us to use the
school’s facilities. We are indebted to
Kathleen Kelly, Director of Alumni Relations, without whose help none of this
would be possible. We hope you’ll

Thursday, October 14th: DINNER AND A FOOTBALL GAME AT THE SANTA ANA BOWL
5:30 pm Cheesesteak Sandwiches (beef or chicken),
chips and soft drinks,
$10, includes admission to the game.
7:00 pm Mater Dei vs. St. John Bosco
NOTE: Game followed by traditional rosary in
the Mater Dei Grotto and cocktail party (included)
Friday, October 15th: Please join out-of-town guests at the Double
Tree Hotel* for unhosted cocktails.
This day and evening is free of planned activities to give you an
opportunity to make plans of your own.
Saturday, October 16th:BAR-B-QUE, CLASSIC
CAR SHOW, MINGLING AND DANCING AT MDHS

4:00 pm Mass
celebrated by Fr. Steve Sallot ‘72 in the MDHS chapel
5:00-6:30 pm Classic
Car Show**
6:30-8:00 pm Bar-B-Q dinner by Newport Rib Company, featuring grilled
appetizers, baby back ribs, chicken, all the fixins’ and dessert. Coffee and
soft drinks provided, beer and wine available for $2 each, beginning at 5:00
pm.
8 pm-11 pm Dancing
and mingling to music provided by Fly-By-Night Disc Jockeys
*FOR OUR OUT-OF-TOWN GUESTS and anyone else who would
like to stay at the hotel, Henry Enriquez has arranged for a limited block of

**CAR SHOW, we are inviting those of you who
have a
classic car from the 70’s or older or an exotic of any year (or a friend
who’d
like to loan one) to bring it to the school to shine & show. We will stage it in the parking area next to
the Old Gym. Security will be provided. Andy
Ersek will be coordinating this event.
